After struggling to use our patio umbrella with one of those heavy iron bases, we still were only able to use it VERY infrequently in typically gusty SF winds

I considered every option for our deck, from sun sail to awning to large crank out umbrella. The ideal solution for shade – given the ever-changing path of the sun throughout the year, was the flexibility of 2 standard table umbrellas supported by a moveable rail mount.
